artist statement
Medieval alchemy pursued the idea of ​​creating a philosopher's stone, but one day I heard the theory that the stone itself was only an image of the knowledge that the master received by observing the processes of purification of the elements. Something was changing in the alchemist, although only the mercury in his bottle really changed physically. It turns out that, knowing in advance the result of his influence, the alchemist nevertheless received some information from the very process of observation.
Something happens, sometimes it is part of my desire and choice, sometimes not. I'm often excluded from the things I "create", usually I just set the conditions and observe. I am curious to know the boundaries of art — where it still belongs to me, where I am a part of it, and where it happens without me, by itself, by coincidence. I'm curious — and these are the main words in this short essay. I am curious to find the limits of control, I am curious where the subject became the object, the creator became the creation. I observe — but I am both a participant in the event, and its catalyst and its cause.
